Before your first cast
What is the best way to throw a bowling ball?
Roll, don't throw. Hold the ball in front of your chest with two hands, your right or left hand your thumb, middle and ring finger in the holes, with the other hand you support the ball. Take three or four easy steps and in the meantime let your arm hang like a pendulum: backwards, forwards, and at the height of your ankle, let go. Keep looking at your target and swing neatly. A ball that you launch out of your shoulder with force almost always ends up in the gutter.
Where can I aim in bowling?
Not on the pins. Look at the seven arrows in the track, more than four meters in front of you. If you are right-handed, aim for the second arrow from the right. Left-handed? The second from the left. You steer on the pocket: the hole between the front pin and its neighbor. If you hit that, the pins do the rest.
What is the 31 rule in bowling?
A calculation trick from competitive sports. Subtract 31 from the length of the oil pattern and you will know on which board your ball should exit the oil to turn back to the pins. Our house pattern is 43 feet, so 43 minus 31 is plank 12. Nice for the enthusiast. For a pleasant evening, you only need to know where the arrows are.
About the score
How do you get 300 in bowling?
Twelve times in a row. A strike in each of the first nine frames, and then three more in the tenth. Because a strike counts with the two balls after it, it yields exactly 300: the highest possible score. Rare, but it happens. On the page of our bowling club you can see who managed to do it in our house.
What do you call 4 strikes in a row?
Two strikes in a row is a double, three is a turkey. Four in a row is called a hambone, also known as four-bagger. Then you simply keep counting: five-bagger, six-bagger. That turkey comes from the time when you won a real turkey with three strikes in a row.
With children on the road
How old do kids have to be to bowl?
If a child can walk, he can bowl. We put up the fences along the gutter so that the ball cannot escape. There is a slide ready to roll the ball down, and we have light balls in children's size. With a little help from mom or dad, a toddler can throw his first strike.
Is bowling OK for 6 year olds?
Excellent. At that age, children throw fine themselves, with the gates up and a light ball. No need to do math: the screen keeps track of the score and shows how things are going after each throw. An hour is just right, then the game is still exciting and the attention is still complete.
Is bowling a good idea for a birthday party?
Such a good idea that we have a whole series of children's parties for it. Children would like to come back again, and then choose something else: fries, pancakes, pizza, a hamburger or gourmet. In the meantime, the parents do not have to do anything. We arrange it down to the last detail, from the set table to the gift. Special wishes? Feel free to contact us and we will see what is possible together.
In our house
What is disco bowling? Or Moonlight bowling as we call it!
Bowling with the regular lights off. Instead, colored lights, music, and lanes that glow in the dark. The game remains exactly the same, the atmosphere is completely different. White clothes light up nicely, so you're doing yourself a favor with that. On Wednesday afternoon and throughout Friday there is 'Moonlight bowling'!
What is the difference between bowling and hyper bowling?
In normal bowling, only the pins count. In hyperbowling, the edge of the lane counts: on both sides there are illuminated targets that you do want to hit. A ball that goes towards the gutter suddenly earns points. There are different forms of play, from easy to tough, and therefore someone who never bowls can easily win against the most fanatical bowler in the group.
